What is Juvederm?
Developed and manufactured by 'Allergan', makers of Botox and Vistabel, Juvederm Ultra is an advanced Hyaluronic Acid dermal filler. Non-animal based, the formula is made by bacterial fermentation from the streptococci bacteria, but is totally biocompatible and degrades naturally in the skin over a period of time, leaving no trace. Launched into the UK market in February 2008, it has become widely used for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles and for adding contour and volume to skin which has lost elasticity due to the ageing process. Juvederm Ultra contains 0.3% Lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) to ease any discomfort experienced during, or following the procedure, and should only be administered by a qualified medical practitioner. How is Juvederm used?
There are four formulations of Juvederm Ultra; Ultra 2 is for use on medium lines and wrinkles and for adding contour to the lips. One application is 2x0.55m, administered through a 30g needle.Ultra 3 offers greater versatility and delivers contouring to medium to deep lines, including the nasolabial folds, and for the enhancement of the lip line. Application volumes are the same as for Ultra 2, but injected through a 27g needle.
Ultra 4 is for use in correcting deeper lines and creases, but should not be applied to the under-eye or glabella (frown line) area. The dosage is 2 x 0.8ml applied with a 27g needle.
The Juvederm Ultra Smile was launched in January 2010 specifically for lip contouring and volumising and the 2 x 0.55ml dosage is administered through a 27g needle.
Developed for use in the treatment of skin which has lost contour and volume through the process of ageing, Juvederm Voluma was introduced into the UK in January 2009. It is a thicker, more viscous compound than the Ultra formulation and delivers deep volume restoration to the cheek bone and chin area. The dosage of 1 x 2ml syringe contains 20ml of the Hyaluronic Acid gel.
How much for the Procedure?
Prices for Juvederm procedures are generally charged per syringe used in the treatment, so will inevitably vary depending on size of the area being corrected. The 'Renew Medica' clinic has locations throughout London and the south-east and boasts a client base of over 60,000 patients. Prices for their Juvederm Ultra procedures start from £250 for a syringe of 0.5ml, to £400 for 0.8ml-1.2ml, and £300 for an additional 1ml syringe used (in the same appointment).
With clinics in London and Nottingham, 'Botonics' has built its reputation on high levels of good quality customer service and clinical excellence.
