What does Rhinoplasty mean?
The term Rhinoplasty is derived from a combination of two Greek words, rhino meaning nose, and plasticos meaning to effect change, literally 'to change the nose'. It is one of the most frequently requested procedures and has two different applications. Cosmetic Rhinoplasty is an elected surgery where a patient requires changes to be made for aesthetic purposes. A Reconstructive Rhinoplasty is a procedure to restore the nose after an accident, from the effects of disease (Cancer) or to improve impaired function. When choosing a Surgeon to perform the operation it is vital to research thoroughly and to find a clinician with the appropriate expertise, an excellent record for safety and, if possible, testimonials from previous patients. A good starting point is the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and the BAPRAS (British Association for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetics Surgeons) websites. All Cosmetic Surgeons who are members of either of these two organisations will have achieved the highest standards of clinical expertise.Any Recommendations?
Mr. Basim Matti is Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon at The Wellington Hospital in St. Johns Wood, and specialises in Rhinoplasty procedures. He is a full member of BAAPS and is the UK secretary of ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons). Mr. Matti likes to see all his patients on a minimum of two occasions prior to their surgery, the first will be to discuss medical history, determine the needs and expectations of his client and detail the procedure. The following appointment will be for the patient to undergo any tests associated with the surgery and to ask any further questions which may need clarification. Patients are assured of a personal and dedicated service from Mr. Matti and his team from the initial consultation through to aftercare and recovery.
