Liposuction Technology
Liposuction surgery uses a minimally invasive technique to remove unwanted fat from difficult to shift locations on the human body. Generally, small incisions are made in relatively obscure places so that the tiny scars that remain after surgery will be even less noticed. A cannula, or hollow tube, is inserted through the small incisions and moved about to break up the unwanted fat. After the fatty tissue has been loosened adequately, a suction pump is used to extract the fat up through the hollow of the cannula and out of the body. Due to the slight disruption caused to the surrounding tissue by the cannula as it is moved to and fro, there can be mild bruising and swelling following liposuction surgery. More recent techniques use a less invasive method of breaking down fat than physical disruption. One such technique is Vaser liposelection or Ultrasonic liposuction. Ultrasonic Liposuction
Ultrasonic liposuction, also referred to as vaser liposelection, is the most recent and least invasive type of liposuction surgery. Instead of using the cannula to physically dislodge fatty tissue and potentially damaging important nearby structures, ultrasound waves are used to selectively liquefy fat cells. The ultrasound waves are tuned to recognize and attack fat cells whilst leaving blood vessels, muscles and nerves intact. The result is a surgery that causes the least side effects and reduces post surgery bruising and swelling. Vaser liposuction is also referred to as liposelection because of the selective targeting ability of ultrasound waves.
Is Ultrasonic Liposuction Safe?
Ultrasonic liposuction is generally the safest and most effective liposuction method provided that it is performed by a suitably qualified and experienced liposuction surgeon. The ultrasonic sound waves used in vaser liposuction must be set at appropriate power levels to avoid causing damage to surrounding tissue. If ultrasonic liposuction is properly carried out by a highly experienced surgeon it is perfectly safe and extremely effective. This necessitates the use of only the best ultrasonic liposuction clinics and surgeons with many years of experience in this type of surgery.
Finding the Best Ultrasonic Liposuction Surgeon
Ultrasonic liposuction is a relatively new liposuction procedure and as such, should not be attempted by inexperienced surgeons that are just starting out in liposuction surgery. Be sure to properly scrutinize the qualifications and medical experience of any liposuction surgeon under consideration and do not be guided by price. Let the level of expertise and provable success rates guide any search for the best ultrasonic liposuction surgeon and clinic. Ask for past patient references and do contact them and kindly ask for their opinion and experience of the surgeon that they used. A happy patient with good surgical results following a liposuction procedure will be more likely to share their experiences.
